DMC was founded by Don McCredie, a professional fire-fighter and an active member of his local Surf Life Saving Club at Coogee Beach, NSW, Australia; the beach was where he spent all his youth.
Don is a strong swimmer who has competed in many different sporting events. In 1983, he won the title of the World Surf Life Saving Bodysurfing Champion. Through these endeavours and several trips to Hawaii in the mid 80’s whilst competing regularly in bodysurfing contests he became interested in water flow & fluid dynamics due to having spent most of his life either in it, or on it.
Don’s idea was to design and create a type of swim propulsion fin (or flipper) that would revolutionise his chosen sport. The Hydro Finz were born. The design of the fin was unique as it’s “V” Rail design gave it the edge on the competition and proved functional in wave riding particularly deep hollow tubes. The V Rail acted like small surfboard fins only with 8 edges to add traction not just 2 or 3.
After 24 years at the top of the swim fin industry, Don sold the Hydro brand and began DMC fins. Years of swim fin manufacture, product testing and experimental models led to the creation of a new surfing swimfin in 2017: REPELLOR® Fins.
The DMC REPELLOR® Fins have adapted RVR (Reverse Vee Rail) Technology to the blade area which is engineered to capture the maximum volume of water and uniquely increasing velocity during the down kick. This innovative feature engages during down kick thrust to extend the rails to their widest point and provide a boost of power and propulsion unlike any other swimfin.
Molded from an exclusive new non-abrasive material called Silform– they will not cramp and will love your feet. The REPELLOR® Fins – also work to stabilize while trailing through the water when wave riding. The DMC engineers have created the DMC REPELLOR® Fins for all ocean uses including– bodysurfing, surf rescue, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, surf swimming, swimming, spearfishing and snorkelling.
